Free Sustainability Education Resources Now Available for Northern Ireland Schools – The Sustainables Academy

Free Sustainability Education Resources Now Available for Northern Ireland Schools
Schools across Northern Ireland now have free access to high-quality sustainability and circular economy education resources, thanks to The Sustainables Academy. This not-for-profit initiative, created by experienced educators and sustainability specialists, provides teachers with curriculum-aligned tools to inspire the next generation of environmental changemakers.
The 12 Pathways Curriculum, developed by The Sustainables Academy, is designed to integrate sustainability into everyday teaching across different subjects. The curriculum aligns with Northern Ireland’s Foundation Stage and Key Stages 1 and 2, offering educators an engaging way to teach vital topics such as sustainable food systems, waste management, renewable energy, and climate mental health.
“Our aim is to make sustainability education accessible, practical, and exciting for both teachers and learners,” said Louise Robertson Founder of The Sustainables Academy. “We want to empower educators with free resources that seamlessly fit into their lessons, making sustainability a core part of learning.”
The resources include interactive topic webs, hands-on activities, and inquiry-based learning tools, all designed to align with the Northern Ireland Curriculum’s Areas of Learning. Topics such as sustainable oyster and mussel farming, the circular economy, and outdoor learning are brought to life with engaging characters like Aqua, Oggie, Plasto, and Mini – Earth Stewards who help learners explore real-world environmental challenges and solutions.
Teachers can access these free resources at www.thesustainablesacademy.org, ensuring sustainability education is available to all schools, regardless of budget constraints.
This initiative is particularly timely as Northern Ireland continues to advance its climate action goals and increase awareness of sustainable living. By equipping young people with knowledge and skills early on, The Sustainables Academy hopes to foster a culture of environmental responsibility that will benefit communities for generations to come.
The Sustainables Academy is a not-for-profit educational initiative providing free, high-quality sustainability and circular economy resources to schools across the UK. Developed by educators and experts in sustainability, the Academy supports teachers in embedding climate education into everyday learning, ensuring young people gain the knowledge and skills needed for a sustainable future.
