Registrations are open for ECO-UNESCO’s Young Environmentalist Awards (YEA)!
YEA is a free all-Ireland eco-action programme that empowers groups of young people aged 10-18 to take action for a sustainable future.
Whether it’s a biodiversity trail, an upcycled art project, or an energy-saving campaign, there’s a way for everyone to get involved. YEA offers a wide range of award categories, including Biodiversity, Waste, Water, and Eco-Health and Wellbeing, highlighting the diversity of projects that can be undertaken. Participation can include both new initiatives and ongoing projects, providing an excellent opportunity to showcase existing efforts.
Since its inception, the programme has engaged and empowered 70,000 young people, extended its reach to 32 counties across Ireland, nurtured 6,000 youth-led environmental action projects, and proudly celebrated young peoples’ achievements with over 600 awards.
For the first time, ECO-UNESCO has secured Shared Island funding enabling dedicated resource to Northern Ireland and border counties, with the aim of increasing opportunities for 10-18 year olds across those areas in the 2025-26 awards cycle.
By taking part, groups gain access to valuable supports and resources, have the opportunity to take part in pitching and showcase events, and have a platform to have their voices heard.
