Go All In on Green Reading with ESDF and Local Libraries
This National Year of Reading, Make It Green
A big thank you to Libraries in Mid and East Antrim for pulling together a selection of environmental-themed books for our Belfast Learning Festival event tomorrow. It’s a lovely addition to the day and very much appreciated. The books range from Early years picture books, children’s books, young readers, adult readers, Irish language and higher education books.
It’s the National Year of Reading with the National Literacy Trust. The campaign encourages reading with the themes “If you’re into it, read into it” and ‘Go All In’ on a subject that matters to you. At ESDF, we’ve been building our environmental book lists for a while now, and they’ve been a part of various reading campaigns over the years, including World Book Day, Book Week NI, Green Libraries Week, and World Book Night.
ESDF promotes sustainable reading and learning alongside our wider work, and it’s been great to work with local libraries to do that. Libraries are a great community asset for learning and loaning books locally, either in print, e-reader or audio, which can encourage learning at any age. The Big Summer Read is coming soon, and we will be sharing more of our environmental book recommendations to encourage reading for learning and pleasure.
If you’re coming along to our Environmental Hackathon event on Wednesday 10th June, have a browse through the books on display — and if anything catches your eye, your local library is the place to go!
If you can’t make it tomorrow, have a look at our previous book lists and keep an eye out for more coming soon.
