Pupils on a Mission 15 February 2018

Pupils on a Mission to Tackle Food Waste

The Food Waste Challenge is well underway and everyone at Eco–Schools is looking forward to seeing the inventive and fun ways you have been tackling food waste in school and at home! Pupils are asked to highlight the great resource that could be produced from recycling food waste in the brown bin at school and at home, i.e. compost.  Not only will pupils learn about the 3R’s of Reducing, Reusing and Recycling food waste, but they will also learn about the great benefits to the environment that making compost has too.

There’s still time to take part. Participating schools will have the chance to win prizes for their photos of school and home based actions. £200 for the best photo, in each council area, and a further £300 for the best overall school actions. To take part and receive the challenge toolkit please contact chris.callan@keepnorthernirelandbeautiful.org
